Hello, my fellow unicorn teachers! I hope you’re all still rocking your new year’s resolutions and crushing those goals! February is usually when I burn out and give up, but not this year! I have lots of great things planned for you, starting with this blog post!
This post is for my preschool teachers. I was in your shoes for seven years, and I know how you feel. Valentine’s Day is coming fast, and that means a class party day! These days can either be complete chaos or fun and exciting! Either way, you’re usually ready to curl up on the couch when you get home, rather than get dolled up for that fancy dinner that your amazing significant other has planned.
I’m here to help you. Here are five activity ideas to work into your plans for your Valentine party day, AND as a bonus, TEN (because I tried to pick five and I just couldn’t narrow it down) great Valentine’s Day books to share with your class! Maybe this year, THEY will be the ones curling up on the couch when they get home!
1.Valentine’s Day Movement Cards
Those kids are wired and ready to party! Get their wiggles out by having them perform these fun movements!
2.Heart collage craft
This is a super easy, low prep and low supervision craft project you can have your students do on party day, when they’re too excited to focus on something more in depth. Let them have fun and design their own creations to bring home while getting in some motor skill practice!
3.Coloring Page and “I love my _____ because…” Worksheet
This can be another fun project to have them bring home to their parents or a center they can choose to take part in. Once again, super low prep and low structure so they can release their energy and creativity!
4.Valentine Counting Cards Center
Look at you, super teacher, getting in some learning on a party day?! Make this a center or small group activity and sneak some counting practice in.
5.Valentine Letter Match Center
What, math AND literacy, on a party day? You are a rockstar! This is another center or small group activity to sneak in some real learning!
And for the grand finale, here are 10 Valentine’s Day books that I’ve read to my preschoolers and they LOVED!
And there you have it! I hope your Valentine’s Day preschool is a HUGE success! If you have any ideas to add to this list, leave them below! Thanks for reading!
